Rachael Eastham

Dr Rachael Eastham is a researcher with expertise in health and social research related to gender, sex/sexualities, mental health, and (health) inequalities. Prior to returning to education to undertake a PhD in Health Research at Lancaster University in 2012, Rachael had a range of support and facilitation roles in voluntary sector services and has worked extensively to both support and understand the experience of marginalisation in relation to, amongst other things, age (young people), sexual orientation and gender identity, and with women and people involved in the criminal justice system.

Rachael uses a range of participatory and co-designed methods in research particularly visual, playful and historical activities including life histories and archival research. Rachael is very pleased to have job where she can be relentlessly curious whilst trying to support inclusion and social change at the same time. She can also make decent lattes after many years frothing milk as a barista.
